Sebec Lake, Moosehead Lake and the Piscataquis River are nearby to offer excellent fishing and boating. In the winter months, you will find exceptional snow for downhill skiing Moose Mountain and Sugarloaf. Hermon Mountain is known for its Snowboarding and Tubing.

There are beautiful state parks in the area great for picnics, hikes and wildlife viewing. Baxter State Park and Peaks Kenny State Park are among the more popular ones. The Katahdin Iron Works is a well-known historic site with a restored blast furnace and a beehive-shaped charcoal kiln that you will definitely want to see.
